This year, the world's largest trade fair for the plastics and rubber industry, with over 3,000 exhibitors from almost 60 countries, will focus on sustainable circular economy, resource conservation, and the responsible use of plastics. In this context, AMANDUS KAHL will demonstrate how its robust and low-maintenance machines can produce additive mixtures economically and reliably. The company will also present solutions for efficiently processing recyclable materials, for example for chemical plastics recycling.
Dust-free dosing of polymer additives
AMANDUS KAHL will showcase its plants for dust-free pelleting of additives, among other things. Powdery additives are considered difficult to dose, tend to segregate, generate dust that can be explosive at fine particle sizes and in certain concentrations, and pose challenges for transport and storage. Powdery additive mixtures are compacted to minimize the risk of explosion. This reduces dust formation and increases safety in the production process. AMANDUS KAHL’s flat die pellet mills offer a solution for agglomeration by compression that can also be used for temperature-sensitive additives. The powders are converted into low-dust, compact pellets – known as No Dust Blends – that are characterized by good dosability, reduced segregation, and a stable structure. The 33 and 38 series, including the pellet mills 33-390 and 38-600, have proven themselves for several decades and are used successfully in numerous applications worldwide, especially for pelleting stabilizers.
Recycling plastic waste
At K2025, AMANDUS KAHL will also focus on plastic waste recycling. Rather than using plastics for energy recovery, material recycling aims to recover the polymer building blocks. Larger pellet mills, such as the 39-1000 and 45-1250, play a key role in this process. They prepare large-volume, inhomogeneous, and temperature-sensitive plastic waste for further recycling by significantly increasing the bulk density and ensuring a consistent pellet shape. This makes the material easier to handle and more efficient to process in an extruder, while also reducing transport and storage costs. Additionally, the KAHL belt dryer reduces and homogenizes moisture in the product before it is pelleted, ensuring stable process conditions. The result is a stable, reliable process with high product quality.
At the AMANDUS KAHL exhibition stand, visitors can learn about the various machine designs for the plastics and chemical industries. These machines are also available in stainless steel and can be adapted to GMP and ATEX requirements upon request.
