Sugar beet pulp pellets consist of the remains of the sugar beet left over from the extraction of sugar. With the addition of some molasses, these are pressed into pellets. The remains of the sugar beet have a high content of crude fibres, which slowly release the energy they contain. The sugar content increases both energy content and tastiness. Therefore the molasses pellets can be used well for choosy animals and poor feed converters. As a result, the feed is not only storable and free-flowing, but is also easier to grind and mix with other feeds.
Dried beet pulp pellets are an important component in the production of feed concentrates - but they are also a frequently used individual feed. Appetising and rich in crude fibres, easily digestible and swelling: the energy supplier from sugar beet pulp increases the well-being of farm animals and pets. The dried sugar beet pulp has a high fibre content, which is particularly suitable for ruminants. This consists mainly of cellulose, hemicelluloses and pectins, which are metabolised more continuously than starch and sugar. Usually pellets with a diameter of 6 mm to 10 mm are produced.
Pelleting of sugar beet pulp rich in fibres makes stable storage and economical transport possible. The pelleting process reduces the volume of the pulp and enables dry storage over a longer period of time.
Advantages of pelleting can also be found in the well-known KAHL technology. The KAHL press configuration has a specific advantage for all products with a high fibre content, which also applies to sugar beet pulp. As is the case with other products rich in fibres, no further pre-grinding is required for sugar beet pulp. Pelleting is therefore possible without problems and without great effort. A simple integration into the existing sugar factory makes it possible to sell the product as valuable animal feed.
Moreover, the KAHL flat die pellet mill can cope with the most demanding conditions. The robust KAHL machine technology is characterised by an extensive machine repertoire, which meets the different requirements for the pelleting of sugar beet pulp.
